Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has called on women in Malava Constituency to make informed choices in the upcoming parliamentary by-election, set for November 27, 2025.
Speaking in Nairobi during an engagement with over 100 women professionals from Malava, Mudavadi emphasised the crucial role women play in shaping Kenya’s political and socio-economic future.
“History has shown that no struggle can truly succeed without the active participation of women, working hand in hand with men, in shaping the future of their communities and nation,” he said.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary noted that responsible voting is key to ensuring quality leadership that addresses community needs. He urged the women to consider leaders committed to development, unity, and empowerment.
The meeting also served as a platform to explore transformative women empowerment initiatives. Discussions focused on agricultural diversification, strengthening Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and bolstering Chamas and Women SACCOs. Mudavadi said such ventures are vital for sustainable livelihoods.
“We discussed ways to uplift women economically and socially, ensuring they have the tools to succeed in various sectors,” he stated.
The Malava parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of MP Malulu Injendi, a respected legislator who had served the constituency for multiple terms. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) confirmed that all pending by-elections nationwide will be conducted on November 27, 2025.
As campaigns gear up, political observers expect Malava to attract strong competition, given its strategic importance in Kakamega County politics. Mudavadi’s appeal to women voters signals the growing recognition of their influence in electoral outcomes.
With the by-election drawing near, Malava’s women are now being challenged to not only turn up in large numbers but also ensure their votes count toward progressive leadership.
