Detectives in Murang’a County have launched investigations into the brutal killing of a man whose body was discovered beside the Gachi River in Kenol on Monday afternoon. According to police, the body was found long after the murder, with the victim’s hands tied behind his back and his head severely disfigured. Officers said the man appeared to have been hit with a blunt object and was lying in a pool of blood.
The motive for the killing remains unclear. The body was taken to the mortuary for identification and a postmortem examination.
The Murang’a incident comes amid several other disturbing deaths reported across the country on the same day. In Karungu, Migori County, police recovered dismembered body parts of a man abandoned in a bush. Officers suspect the victim may have been killed elsewhere before wild animals scavenged the remains. Among the recovered parts were a skull and a hand. Investigations are underway to establish the victim’s identity and cause of death.
In Narok County, another man—estimated to be about 40 years old—was found dead on the roadside near the Kadinor River along the Mosocho–Nendege road. Although there were no visible injuries, police noted blood oozing from his mouth. The scene showed no signs of struggle, leaving investigators with more questions than answers.
Meanwhile, in Kopsiro, Bungoma County, 63-year-old Patrick Barasa Wafula was attacked and killed at his home before his body was set on fire. Police recovered a blood-stained panga stuck in his stomach, believed to be the murder weapon. Officers revisited the scene Tuesday morning to continue investigations.
In Kiambu County, a suspected robber was stoned to death in Kamirithu, Limuru, after a botched attempt to raid a shop.
Police say all bodies have been moved to mortuaries as investigations continue to determine motives and identify suspects.
