Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen has issued a stern warning against bribery ahead of the nationwide police recruitment scheduled for November 17. Speaking at a church service at A.G.C. Kaboson in Bomet County, Murkomen emphasized that anyone caught attempting to bribe officials will face arrest.
“We demand transparency and accountability. Those carrying money to bribe will be arrested,” Murkomen said. He called on local communities to actively participate as observers to safeguard the integrity of the exercise, highlighting public involvement as crucial in fighting corruption.
The CS further stated that the recruitment process will be concluded on the same day to avoid interference after the physical and academic verification stages. “We want the exercise to be completed by 5pm so that all successful applicants can be announced,” he added.
Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja confirmed that the recruitment will take place across all sub-counties, with 422 designated centres nationwide. Applicants are required to report by 8:00 am and meet specific eligibility criteria, including being Kenyan citizens aged 18 to 28, holding a valid national ID, and having a minimum KCSE grade of D+ in English or Kiswahili.
Physical and medical fitness is mandatory, with minimum height requirements of 5 feet 8 inches for men and 5 feet 3 inches for women. Candidates must have no criminal record, and female applicants must not be pregnant during recruitment or training. NYS graduates are encouraged to apply, as their prior training is considered an advantage.
Interested candidates can download the official application form from government websites or obtain it from Huduma Centres. On the recruitment day, applicants must present original and photocopied documents, including academic certificates, national ID, birth certificate, and NYS discharge certificate if applicable. All originals will be returned before leaving the centre.
This recruitment aims to strengthen Kenya’s policing capacity across the Kenya Police Service, Administration Police Service, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, ensuring a transparent and corruption-free process.
