A 53-year-old man, Isaya Chiteri, was tragically killed in Mowlem, Nairobi, while defending his wife and daughter from a gang of robbers.
The incident occurred at dawn on Wednesday in the Penyanya area. Chiteri was walking home with his family when they were confronted by four men. According to police, Chiteri fought back bravely. In response, one of the attackers stabbed him in the chest, just below the breast.
Emergency responders rushed him to a nearby hospital. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. His wife and daughter managed to escape the scene unharmed. Authorities confirmed that the robbers stole an unknown amount of money and valuables before fleeing.
The Nairobi police have intensified operations to address rising insecurity in the city. In the past week alone, over 300 people were arrested across the city, including the central business district and various estates.
Police have emphasized the importance of public cooperation in reporting crimes. Nairobi police boss George Seda said, “It is important you report to help our teams in analysing the cases for action.” Prompt reporting helps law enforcement profile suspects and pursue investigations effectively.
In a separate incident in Kehancha, Migori County, a 25-year-old man, Kevin Mwita, was found murdered. He was stabbed in the neck, and the attackers fled without taking any belongings. Investigations suggest that many killings in the area are linked to land disputes or love triangles. Some suspects have already been arrested and arraigned.
Police continue to urge residents to report criminal activity. Public cooperation is key to preventing further tragedies, bringing criminals to justice, and ensuring the safety of communities.
The Nairobi police operations remain ongoing, with authorities vowing to curb insecurity and apprehend those responsible for violent crimes.
