Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntuntu has announced sweeping changes to the county’s leadership structure, reassigning several directorates to new departments in a bid to streamline service delivery and align county functions with emerging priorities.
According to an Executive Order published in a gazette notice dated Friday, August 15, the Directorate of Culture has been moved from the Department of Education, Youth Affairs, Sports, Culture and Social Services to the Department of Trade, Cooperative Development, Tourism and Wildlife.
In addition, the Directorate of Co-operatives Development has been shifted from the Department of Trade, Cooperative Development, Tourism and Wildlife to the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries. Meanwhile, the Directorate of Trade has been relocated from the Department of Trade, Cooperative Development, Tourism and Wildlife to the Department of Finance and Economic Planning.
The changes, which took effect on July 2, are contained in Executive Order No. 1 of 2025 and are designed to improve efficiency in county operations. Governor Ntuntu emphasized that the reorganisation is meant to align directorate mandates with the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) and sector-specific goals.
“The County Government of Narok is committed to improving service delivery, enhancing operational efficiency, and aligning directorate functions with evolving county priorities, including environmental sustainability, youth empowerment, digital transformation, and pastoral livelihoods,” the notice read.
To ensure a smooth transition, the county secretary, in collaboration with the County Public Service Board, has been tasked with overseeing the implementation process. Directorates have also been directed to report to their respective chief officers, who in turn will report to the County Executive Committee Members (CECMs).
Furthermore, staff redeployments and resource realignment will be conducted under existing human resource procedures and guidelines.
Governor Ntuntu’s restructuring is seen as a strategic move to position Narok County for greater efficiency in resource utilization while enhancing its capacity to respond to the changing needs of residents. The order remains in effect unless revoked by a subsequent directive.
