Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has hosted a delegation from State House led by Wilson Aruasa. The meeting, held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, focused on development and healthcare priorities in the county.
Key Development Agendas
Natembeya revealed that discussions touched on agriculture, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), financial inclusion, the digital superhighway, the creative economy, and housing.
One of the main highlights was the Maili Tatu 200-unit housing project, which the governor said would boost settlement efforts in Trans Nzoia.
The talks also covered healthcare improvements. Natembeya noted that the county already has some of the best CT scan facilities in the region. He added that his administration is committed to improving human resources for health, financing, leadership, and governance.
“We are keen to continue improving access to quality healthcare for our people,” Natembeya said.
Clash with Farouk Kibet
The talks come just months after Natembeya’s public clash with Farouk Kibet, President William Ruto’s long-time aide.
Speaking on March 30, 2025, the governor challenged Farouk to confront him directly instead of attacking him in public forums.
“Do not think that because you are close to the President, you can lecture us. I do not fear you; come and face me,” Natembeya said during a public rally.
He explained that while he respects the presidency, he does not fear leaders. According to him, fear breeds dictatorship.
Western Kenya Politics
Earlier, Farouk accused Natembeya of being a stumbling block to development in Western Kenya. In response, the governor criticised President Ruto’s recent tour of the region, saying it had not delivered real benefits.
Natembeya insisted that Kenya belongs to all citizens, not a small group of political elites. He urged leaders to listen to the real needs of the people and avoid sidelining Western Kenya in development plans.
