The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has started registering and verifying delegates ahead of its 20th anniversary celebrations, which will take place from November 14 to 16 in Mombasa County.
The registration exercise is being conducted at the Mama Ngina Waterfront and begins at 11 a.m. on Thursday. Both invited and self-sponsored delegates have been advised to attend the verification session early to ensure smooth participation in the three-day event.
Interim party leader Dr. Oburu Odinga said the milestone celebration will honour two decades of political struggle, sacrifice, and service to the Kenyan people. He described the anniversary as a moment to reflect on ODM’s journey and to celebrate the legacy of the party’s departed leader, Raila Amolo Odinga.
“As we commemorate this landmark, we do so in honour of the indelible legacy of our departed Party Leader, the Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga the father of modern democracy in Kenya whose vision, courage, and sacrifice built this movement,” Oburu said in a statement.
The celebrations will kick off with a special sitting of the National Governing Council on Thursday, November 13, to review the party’s progress and reaffirm its direction for the future.
Friday’s programme includes an ODM Disability League Breakfast from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., followed by parallel summits for the women and youth leagues. The day will close with a youth concert running from 6 p.m. to midnight.
On Saturday, November 15, the celebrations will centre at Mama Ngina Waterfront, themed around Raila Odinga’s vision, achievements, and political legacy. The event will culminate with an ODM Founders’ Dinner at Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort and an interfaith thanksgiving service.
Oburu urged members and supporters to attend the commemoration, describing it as both solemn and celebratory — a time to honour the past and recommit to ODM’s founding principles of unity, democracy, and people-centred leadership.
