The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has announced that its countywide delegates’ elections will take place on Monday, August 25, 2025, as part of its ongoing grassroots election process.
In a statement, the National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) confirmed that the exercise will be conducted at designated polling centers across the country, with the exception of Migori, Nairobi, Homa Bay, and Kisumu counties, which will not take part.
“The National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) will conduct countrywide County Delegates elections, except for the counties of Migori, Nairobi, Homa Bay, and Kisumu,” said committee chairperson Emily Awita.
According to the NECC, all eligible delegates listed on the ODM Party website are allowed to vie for any of the available county-level positions. Aspirants will be required to submit their applications by paying fees through the party’s Paybill number 985900, using the specific office being sought as the account name.
The application fees have been categorized as follows: Sh1,000 for non-executive positions, Sh2,500 for women, youth, disability, and special interest representatives, Sh5,000 for executive posts excluding chairperson, and Sh10,000 for county chairperson positions.
ODM embarked on its grassroots election cycle in April 2025, following polling unit elections held in November 2024. The process saw the election of 77 party officials at the sub-branch and branch levels across four key committees: mainstream, women’s league, youth league, and disability league.
Mainstream leadership slots up for grabs include chairperson, deputy chairperson, secretary, deputy secretary, treasurer, deputy treasurer, organizing secretary, and deputy organizing secretary. In addition, positions for secretary for women, secretary for youth, secretary for disability, and a special interest group representative will also be contested.
The NECC emphasized that the elections are part of ODM’s broader strategy to strengthen internal democracy and build robust leadership structures ahead of the 2027 General Election.
With the upcoming county delegate elections, ODM seeks to consolidate its grassroots presence and reinforce its reputation as a party that prioritizes participatory democracy.
