Top opposition leaders made a notable political and social appearance in Nakuru County over the weekend during the wedding ceremony of Kevin Muasya Musyoka, son of Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka. The event, held at the luxurious Enashipai Resort, turned into a symbolic show of unity among prominent opposition figures, with sights now set on the 2027 general elections.
Among the key attendees was former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who shared a platform with former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, marking their first major public reunion since the 2022 elections. The duo was joined by an array of political stalwarts, including Martha Karua (People’s Liberation Party), Eugene Wamalwa (DAP-Kenya), and former UNCTAD Secretary General Mukhisa Kituyi.
Kevin Musyoka tied the knot with his fiancée Sharon in a colorful ceremony attended by dignitaries, family, and friends. The political tone of the event underscored the growing momentum among opposition leaders seeking to challenge President William Ruto in 2027.
Taking to social media, Gachagua praised the couple and used the moment to spotlight the unity among opposition leaders. “I’m delighted to join my brothers Kalonzo Musyoka and Dr Fred Matiang’i… Wishing Kevin and his spouse a lifetime of happiness and blessings,” he posted.
Pastor Dorcas Gachagua, also in attendance, shared a heartfelt Bible verse from Mark 10:9, emphasizing the sanctity of the union. “Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate,” she said.
Gachagua, who has declared his intent to run for president in 2027, revealed that the opposition would use scientific polling and internal consensus to select the most viable candidate. “Even if it’s not me, I will support whoever we settle on,” he stated, underlining his commitment to unity.
With speculation now resting firmly on a unified opposition front, Gachagua is expected to launch his own political party later this month a move that could reshape the 2027 political landscape.
