Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi on Saturday paid a heartfelt visit to the Bondo home of Mama Ida Odinga to convey his condolences following the passing of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Sudi, who was accompanied by about 30 individuals many of whom were part of the “Youth for Raila” campaign team in 2007 was warmly received by Mama Ida and members of the Odinga family. Inside the family’s residence, the group shared moments of reflection, expressing their admiration for the late opposition leader’s enduring impact on Kenya’s political landscape.
During the visit, Sudi presented Mama Ida with a framed poster of Raila Odinga dressed in a suit, bearing the word “Luminaries.” The poster, which symbolized Raila’s visionary leadership and lasting legacy, was signed by members of Sudi’s delegation as a token of respect. Mama Ida accepted the tribute with gratitude as cameras captured the emotional moment.
Speaking during the visit, Sudi reflected on his personal relationship with Raila, describing him as a man who transcended politics. “Baba Raila was very special. In politics, we would talk, and when I called him, we would even laugh together,” he said.
Sudi further reminisced about their early political journey, recalling how they once campaigned together in his twenties before taking different paths a testament to the respect and admiration he still holds for the late leader.
