Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi was overcome with grief on Friday after seeing the body of his late aunt at Eldoret Hospital mortuary. He broke down in tears and had to be comforted by relatives, friends, and Catholic priest Father Godias Kipkoech.
The MP had come with family to collect the remains of Mama Pauline Chelimo Kipkore, who died at the age of 87. She was a respected matriarch and played a major role in Sudi’s upbringing.
Emotional Moment
During the visit, Sudi did not address the mourners. He was later escorted to his car as the body was taken out in a funeral procession. The remains were headed to Kapyego, Elgeyo Marakwet, where the burial is scheduled for Saturday.
Leaders Join in Condolences
Several leaders accompanied the MP to offer support. They included Uasin Gishu County Executive for Sports Robert Kemei, UDA official Paul Kiprop, and several local MCAs.
Speaking on behalf of the leaders, Kemei offered condolences:
“We pray for you, our MP Sudi, and your family so that God will comfort you at this time of great loss of the family matriarch.”
He also encouraged mourners to remain strong in faith:
“God is above everything and He has a reason for everything that happens.”
A Life Remembered
Family members say Mama Kipkore was very close to Sudi. She guided him through his early life and was a pillar of strength for the family.
Her burial is expected to draw many mourners from across the region, reflecting the respect and love she earned during her life.
