Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has firmly rejected claims that she has endorsed any candidate to succeed her in the 2027 General Election. In a detailed statement issued on Friday night, Passaris addressed a wave of online speculation fueled by manipulated posters circulating across various social media platforms.
The two-term legislator clarified that the graphics suggesting she had thrown her weight behind a preferred successor were “edited fabrications” designed to mislead the public and push her into early succession politics.
“Over the last 24 hours, I’ve seen several edited posters circulating online. Let me set the record straight. By 2027, God willing, I will have completed two full terms as Nairobi Woman Rep,” she said. “This is an affirmative action seat, and I believe it is time for another woman to lead. To be clear, I have not endorsed anyone for the seat. It is far too early for that, and I will not be drawn into political games, misinterpretations or manipulated graphics.”
Passaris emphasized that while she supports the idea of another woman taking over the affirmative action seat, she has not settled on any individual to champion or promote. She stressed that the matter remains politically sensitive and premature for any formal discussions or declarations.
She noted that any decision on Nairobi’s next Woman Representative will be guided by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), where she is an active member and leader. Passaris added that her priority remains delivering on her mandate rather than engaging in speculative political alignments.
In an unexpected twist within the same statement, Passaris openly declared her support for President William Ruto’s 2027 re-election bid. She praised the President’s leadership qualities, citing his focus, work ethic, and what she described as a transformational agenda for Kenya and Africa.
“As for the presidency in 2027, my personal endorsement is for President William Ruto because I believe in his leadership and his transformational agenda,” she stated.
Her clarification follows claims that she had endorsed Senator Karen Nyamu as her preferred successor claims she has now firmly dismissed. Passaris maintains that her work for Nairobi residents remains her top priority.
