Police in various parts of the country have launched investigations into several tragic deaths reported this week, involving domestic disputes, assaults, and accidents.
In Shartuka, Narok County, a family dispute over land turned deadly when 20-year-old Elvis Kishoyian was allegedly killed after attempting to attack his father. According to police, a relative struck Kishoyian on the head in an attempt to stop the assault. He was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. The assailant fled the scene and is currently being sought by law enforcement.
Meanwhile, in Emuhaya, Vihiga County, 80-year-old Benson Obuyoka died following a violent dispute with a neighbour over a boundary issue. Police reports indicate that Obuyoka was struck on the head during the altercation and died in hospital. The suspect remains at large as police intensify the manhunt.
In a disturbing incident in Matisi, Trans Nzoia County, the body of a 16-year-old boy was discovered in a maize plantation. The teenager had suffered a stab wound to the back, and blood was found oozing from his mouth. Police have not yet established the motive behind the killing and have launched a murder investigation.
In Nairobi’s Mowlem area, detectives are investigating the death of 27-year-old Ndanu Mutiso, whose body was discovered in her house with injuries to the neck and hands. Witnesses claim she was assaulted by her boyfriend during an altercation. Nairobi police boss George Seda confirmed that they are pursuing the suspect for questioning and possible arraignment.
Tragedy also struck in Kuresoi, Nakuru County, where a one-year-old child drowned in a borehole while playing at a neighbour’s compound. The child’s mother told police she had left him in the company of other children. The body was retrieved and taken to the local mortuary as investigations continue.
Police have urged members of the public to seek non-violent means of conflict resolution and to ensure children’s safety while playing to prevent further tragedies. Investigations into all incidents are ongoing.
