Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Charles Kahariri has urged recruitment officers to uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and professionalism as the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) gears up for its nationwide recruitment exercise.
Speaking during a briefing session on Thursday at the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi, General Kahariri emphasised that the credibility of the recruitment process directly affects public confidence in the military. He noted that the KDF has integrated technology into the process to enhance verification and eliminate malpractice.
“This exercise must reflect our core values of integrity, patriotism, and excellence. Technology is now at the heart of our recruitment process, and it is our duty to ensure it is used effectively to eliminate human interference and corruption,” said General Kahariri.
He cautioned that any officer found engaging in corrupt practices would face immediate and severe disciplinary action, adding that corruption undermines national security by compromising the quality of recruits joining the Force.
Commander Kenya Army, Lieutenant General David Ketter, echoed the CDF’s sentiments, stressing that recruitment officers are the first link between the KDF and the public and must ensure all selections are based purely on merit.
Assistant Chief of Defence Forces (Personnel and Logistics), Major General Edward Rugendo, noted that digital data management systems will be used to record recruitment progress in real time, ensuring fairness and accountability across all stations.
The nationwide recruitment will run from October 13 to 25, 2025, across all counties. It includes openings for General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets, Specialist Officers, Tradesmen/women, and other specialized roles in fields such as Education, Engineering, ICT, Mass Communication, Legal, and Supply Chain Management.
Applications are free of charge and must be submitted online via https://recruit.mod.go.ke before October 12, 2025. Applicants must meet strict physical standards, present original and copies of identification and academic documents, and maintain a clean record.
