City lawyer Kyalo Mbobu was shot dead on Tuesday evening along Magadi Road in Nairobi. Police say the killing appears to have been targeted. The incident occurred at around 5:40 pm as Mbobu was driving home.
According to authorities, Mbobu was followed by two men on motorcycles, who opened fire on his vehicle before fleeing the scene. Reports vary on how many times he was shot, but police confirmed that he sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Mbobu was a seasoned lawyer with over 29 years of practice. He previously served at the Political Parties Disputes Resolution Tribunal, handling complex legal matters. His death is a significant loss to Nairobi’s legal community.
Police Response and Investigation
After the shooting, detectives processed the scene and moved Mbobu’s body to the Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi. His vehicle was towed to Lang’ata Police Station as investigations got underway.
Police have not yet determined a motive for the killing or identified the gunmen. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage along Lang’ata Road in an effort to track down the attackers. The shooting caused traffic disruptions along Magadi and Lang’ata roads as officers collected evidence.
Similarities to Previous Targeted Killings
The killing bears similarities to the April 30 shooting of former Kasipul MP Ong’ondo Were, who was shot while being followed by a lone assailant on a motorcycle. In both cases, the motive remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing.
