Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua received a heartfelt reception in Kansas City, Missouri, as part of his ongoing U.S. Diaspora Engagement Tour. Accompanied by his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, Gachagua was greeted with cheers and warmth from the Kenyan community at the Kansas City International Airport.
The visit is one of several key stops on a nationwide tour aimed at strengthening bonds with Kenyans abroad and building support ahead of the 2027 general election. Gachagua, a leader of the Democratic Consciousness Party (DCP), is using the tour to listen to the concerns of the diaspora and rally support for what he calls a mission to “liberate the country from poor leadership and social injustice.”
“We are looking forward to a great conversation on our nation, Kenya,” Gachagua stated during his Kansas City address. He emphasized the importance of diaspora voices in shaping Kenya’s future and reaffirmed his commitment to honest leadership and reform.
During earlier engagements in Dallas, Texas, Gachagua acknowledged the diaspora’s concerns about corruption, extrajudicial killings, police brutality, and violence targeting women and youth. “Their pain and ours on the state of our nation remain intertwined,” he remarked.
True to his reputation as a truthful and straightforward leader, Gachagua has remained focused on his message of hope, accountability, and national transformation. He has also engaged with American investors and business leaders, presenting the opposition as a credible and reformist alternative.
Before arriving in Missouri, Gachagua visited Boston, Maryland, and Seattle, where he held town hall meetings to connect with Kenyans and lay the groundwork for a people-centered political movement. His tour underscores a growing push to unite the diaspora with homegrown efforts for a better, fairer Kenya.
