President William Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki have jointly donated KSh10 million to the family of the late gospel singer Betty Bayo. The contribution was made on November 20, the same day the celebrated artist was laid to rest in a deeply emotional ceremony in Kiambu County.
Speaking during the funeral service, Deputy President Kindiki announced that he and his family would personally contribute KSh5 million to support the welfare and education of Bayo’s children. He added that President Ruto had also entrusted him with an additional KSh5 million to deliver to the family.
“I will help Betty’s children with Sh5 million. President Ruto has also sent me here with Sh5 million to support the children’s education,” Kindiki said. He urged the family to share the appropriate account details for the direct transfer, while offering prayers of blessing and comfort.
The donation from the country’s top leadership follows an earlier contribution from former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who gave KSh1 million to support funeral expenses and honour Betty Bayo’s ministry. In his tribute, Uhuru described her as an extraordinary minister of the gospel whose music uplifted thousands across Kenya.
“Betty’s legacy will endure through her children, her music, and the many lives she touched,” he wrote, celebrating her impactful role in gospel music and unwavering faith.
Betty Bayo, known for her powerful hit “Eleventh Hour,” passed away on November 10, 2025, while receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital. The news was confirmed by her ex-partner, Pastor Victor Kanyari, who stated that she breathed her last at around 1 pm.
Her rise to fame was marked by uplifting music that resonated widely, turning “Eleventh Hour” into an anthem of hope and divine intervention. Tributes from fellow artists remembered her as a humble, gifted, and inspirational figure in the gospel industry.
Beyond music, Betty also made her mark in content creation, fashion, and lifestyle, cementing her place as one of Kenya’s most influential gospel personalities. She leaves behind her children and a powerful legacy built on faith, resilience, and creativity.
