Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has announced that the county government will donate five acres of land for the construction of the new headquarters of the African Independent Pentecostal Church of Kenya (AIPCK). This announcement came during the launch of the new AIPCK Archdiocese in Nairobi, which was graced by President William Ruto on Sunday, October 12.
Sakaja revealed that his decision to donate the land was motivated by President Ruto’s continued commitment to supporting faith-based institutions across the country.
“We have already talked with the President that, as your Governor, I’m going to give you five acres of land for the construction of your church headquarters. We will identify the land, and I ask the President to build the church on it,” Sakaja said.
He further assured that the county government would handle all the paperwork to ensure the project begins smoothly.
On his part, President Ruto pledged Ksh50 million to fund the first phase of the church construction, promising to provide additional financial support to complete the project.
“The Governor has said he will look for five acres of land where the headquarters will be built. Once the land is identified, you will give me your bank details, and I will wire Ksh50 million for the construction,” Ruto stated.
The Head of State commended AIPCK for its role in advocating for Kenya’s independence, noting that the government would continue partnering with religious organizations to promote unity and community development.
The announcement came just hours after Ruto also pledged Ksh60 million and 20 teachers to Starehe Boys Centre to help replace the school’s outlawed asbestos roofing with safer materials.
The twin gestures by the President and the Governor highlight the government’s growing partnership with religious and educational institutions in promoting social welfare and infrastructure development across Kenya.
