Mozambique Prime Minister Adriana Levy, representing President Daniel Francisco Chapo, on Monday underscored the power of unity across Africa during the Mashujaa Day celebrations held at Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui County.
In her address, PM Levy celebrated Kenya’s long journey from the struggle for independence to becoming a thriving democracy, describing it as an inspiration that resonates beyond its borders. She praised Kenya’s heroes—from founding fathers to modern changemakers—for shaping not only the nation’s destiny but also contributing to Africa’s broader pursuit of freedom and self-determination.
“Kenya’s story of liberation speaks to the African spirit of endurance, hope, and solidarity,” she said. “As we reflect on Kenya’s heroes, we are reminded of the timeless truth that in unity lies strength. Only through unity among citizens, within nations, and across our continent can we safeguard our freedom and achieve the dignity and prosperity our people deserve.”
PM Levy noted that the Mashujaa Day celebration was a reaffirmation of Kenya’s vision, values, and determination—pillars that continue to guide the country toward development, justice, and inclusivity.
She also highlighted the deep-rooted friendship between Kenya and Mozambique, emphasizing the shared history of liberation and the enduring spirit of Pan-Africanism. “For us in Mozambique, Kenya’s example has always been an inspiration,” she added, noting that the two nations continue to strengthen ties through cooperation in trade, education, and peacekeeping.
In a heartfelt moment, PM Levy mourned the passing of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, describing him as “a true nationalist and Pan-African leader whose voice for justice will continue to inspire Africa.”
“We extend our deepest condolences to the people and Government of Kenya,” she said. “Africa has lost a true champion of democracy and justice.”
