Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has called on Kenyans to embrace a spirit of unity and patriotism by praying for their leaders regardless of political or ideological differences. Speaking during a church service at AIC Nairagie Enkare in Narok East, Narok County, on Sunday, Kindiki emphasized that the success or failure of leaders is directly linked to the well-being of the nation.
“Pray for your leaders to succeed because if they succeed, the country will succeed; if they fail, the country fails. You don’t have to agree with your leaders, but please pray for them,” he said. “If they are not suitable, you will have the opportunity to look for other leaders tomorrow. It is the foolish who will pray for the leaders and the country to fail.”
The Deputy President stressed that while it is not mandatory for citizens to align with every government policy or decision, it is unpatriotic to wish for the downfall of leaders. He warned against sentiments and actions aimed at destabilizing the country, noting that such behavior only harms the entire nation.
Kindiki further reiterated the need to love and protect the country, saying, “We must love Kenya because it is our country. This is where God put all of us. Let us be patriotic.”
He also assured the congregation that despite the current challenges facing the nation, the Kenya Kwanza administration remains committed to fulfilling its promises and steering the country towards growth and prosperity. He dismissed pessimistic voices that have predicted failure for the country, describing them as “prophets of doom.”
“Kenya will not fail. Without fear of contradiction, we have learnt painful lessons in the past, and we have learned what negative ethnicity can do to a country. We will not go back,” Kindiki affirmed.
The Deputy President concluded by urging Kenyans to actively participate in building a better nation, stating that development is a collective responsibility. He was accompanied by several local leaders from Narok County.
