President William Ruto, alongside leaders from across the political spectrum, led the country in celebrating this year’s Mother’s Day, acknowledging the invaluable role mothers play in shaping societies. During the celebrations, President Ruto described mothers as the pillars of families, noting their irreplaceable contribution to the well-being and development of communities.
“Mothers raise and nurture us through love, sacrifice, and care, making us responsible and productive individuals. Today, we celebrate and honour all mothers for their tireless devotion to family and society,” Ruto remarked, highlighting the selfless devotion that mothers embody.
First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto also paid tribute to mothers, emphasizing the profound and sacred journey of motherhood. She spoke passionately about the enduring love and sacrifices mothers make, noting that their hearts are always in tune with the safety and happiness of their children. “A mother’s world is beautifully intertwined with the well-being of her children,” she added, underscoring the boundless love that defines motherhood.
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale joined in the tributes, recognizing mothers as the heartbeat of families and the foundation of community health and wellness. He lauded their central role as caregivers, nurturing not only their families but the nation’s future generations.
Other leaders, including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, expressed their deep appreciation for mothers. Gachagua described motherhood as a courageous act of love and sacrifice, while Matiang’i wished all mothers in Kenya and Africa a peaceful Mother’s Day.
Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja also acknowledged the sacrifices mothers make, calling them the backbone of society. He described motherhood as “the exquisite inconvenience of being another person’s everything,” recognizing the unyielding support mothers provide to their loved ones.
As the nation united to honor mothers, the tributes served as a reminder of the enduring strength, love, and resilience that mothers exhibit every day in their roles as caregivers and nurturers.
