President William Ruto has declared unity and national transformation as his two foremost responsibilities as the leader of Kenya. Speaking during a Sunday service at AIC Church in Kibra, Nairobi, the President emphasized that these goals are not just constitutional mandates but also deeply rooted in biblical teachings.
Ruto cited Psalm 133, which speaks of the beauty of unity among people, to underscore his commitment to fostering national cohesion. He explained that the establishment of a broad-based government that includes leaders from diverse regions and communities is part of his strategy to unite the country.
“By God’s grace and by your votes, I only have two important missions. The first one is uniting all the people of our nation because unity is strength,” he said. “The Constitution of Kenya directs me to unite the country. It is not only constitutional for me to do so as President, it is also biblical.”
He stressed that unity is both a social and spiritual obligation, and one he intends to lead from the front. The President said a united Kenya is essential for progress, peace, and shared prosperity.
Ruto also highlighted his second mission: transforming the country. He acknowledged that national transformation is a challenging process but insisted it is necessary and long overdue.
“Transformation is not easy, but it is necessary, it is desirable, it is what we must achieve,” Ruto said. He urged all Kenyans to work together with his administration to achieve these goals.
The President outlined key areas of focus for his transformative agenda, including boosting agricultural productivity, reforming the education sector, enhancing healthcare services, and investing in modern infrastructure. He specifically pointed to the government’s initiatives such as the construction of modern markets and the establishment of County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPs) as practical steps toward economic empowerment.
Ruto concluded by affirming his belief that his presidency is a divine assignment and that he is determined not to waste the opportunity. “This is the time and the opportunity. By God’s grace, the assignment God has given me for transformation will not delay any longer,” he said.
