President William Ruto has pledged to donate a new bus and Sh4 million to the Church of Christ in Africa (CCA), Makadara, to aid in its ministry and facilitate essential renovations.
Speaking during a church service on Sunday, President Ruto announced that the government would fund the replacement of the church’s asbestos roof, citing health risks associated with the material. “The government has banned asbestos due to its serious health risks. I have been informed the renovation will require Sh3 to Sh4 million. I have agreed to support it fully,” Ruto said, assuring that he would meet the church treasurer immediately to finalize the contribution.
In addition to the roof repairs, Ruto pledged to provide a fully branded bus for the church’s use. “Give me two or three weeks. The bus will be built and branded with the CCA name. I will deliver it to support the church’s work,” he told the congregation.
The President also offered Sh1 million to help transport church members to an upcoming event in Kisumu. This contribution will complement Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja’s donation of Sh500,000.
Ruto further committed to organizing an empowerment fundraiser for Nairobi County and encouraged local leaders to ensure representation from all wards.
Accompanied by Governor Sakaja and other Nairobi leaders, the President also used the occasion to acknowledge the efforts of opposition leader Raila Odinga in promoting national unity. He praised Odinga’s cooperation as key to driving development across the country.
Ruto, while addressing criticism from political opponents, reiterated his unwavering commitment to serving Kenyans. “I am committed, I am determined, I am focused, and no amount of intimidation or name-calling will derail me,” he said, adding that his administration is prioritizing development projects such as affordable housing and universal health coverage.
He urged Kenyans to support the government’s transformative agenda, promising that visible change would come despite resistance. “This country is going to change before our very eyes,” he declared.
The visit reaffirmed Ruto’s engagement with religious institutions and his strategy of combining development efforts with grassroots connections.
