The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party is mourning the death of Mombasa County Organising Secretary, Peter Odhiambo, popularly known as “Rainbow.” His passing was confirmed by ODM Deputy Party Leader and Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir, who shared a condolence message on behalf of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, currently out of the country.
In his heartfelt message, Governor Nassir described Odhiambo as one of the most devoted grassroots mobilisers within the ODM fraternity. He praised the late Odhiambo’s unwavering commitment to the party’s ideals of justice, unity, and service, saying his work left an indelible mark on the ODM movement in Mombasa and beyond.
“On behalf of our Party Leader, Raila Odinga, I convey our deepest condolences to the ODM family and the people of Mombasa following the passing of our County Organising Secretary, Peter ‘Rainbow’ Odhiambo,” Nassir wrote. “We join his family, friends, and the entire ODM fraternity in mourning this great comrade. May his memory continue to inspire us to strengthen the movement he so faithfully served.”
Governor Nassir also lauded Odhiambo’s energy, loyalty, and belief in the cause of the people, describing him as a pillar of the party’s operations at the Coast.
Odhiambo was a well-known figure in Mombasa politics, playing a pivotal role in organising ODM events and mobilising grassroots support for the party. His death has shocked many, with party members and local leaders sending messages of condolence and tribute to his legacy.
His passing adds to a growing list of dedicated ODM members who have died in recent months, including Volley Among’o, the ODM Ward Chairperson for Awendo.
The ODM fraternity and the people of Mombasa will remember Peter “Rainbow” Odhiambo as a true servant of the people and a tireless champion of the party’s cause.
