Kisumu County Women Representative Ruth Odinga has sent a heartfelt message to her brother, Oburu Odinga, following his ratification as the new leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). The message came just a day after the ODM National Governing Council confirmed the party’s new leadership during a Special Session in Mombasa.
“Congratulations Hon. Dr. Oburu Oginga, on assuming the mantle of Party Leader for ODM. May your wisdom ignite a new spirit of purpose in the party and across the nation,” Ruth wrote on her Facebook page on Friday, November 14, 2025.
Ruth Odinga also shared her own excitement after being sworn in as Deputy Organising Secretary of ODM. She highlighted that the confirmation of Oburu, alongside deputies Governor Abdulswammad Shariff Nassir, Governor Paul Simba Arati, and Senator Godfrey Osotsi, signals a new chapter for the party.
“We have shed the ‘orphan’ tag that followed the passing of our founding Party Leader, Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga. Today, we stand united, organised, and ready for the future,” she said, praising the newly confirmed officials, including Governor Gladys Wanga as National Chairperson, Hon. Otiende Amollo and Hon. John Ariko as Deputy National Chairpersons, Governor Ahmed Abdullahi as National Organising Secretary, and Hon. Rozaah Buyu as Secretary for Political Affairs.
Ruth emphasized that the fresh leadership represents unity, a clear direction, and a renewed commitment to ODM’s core values of justice, equity, and good governance. She urged party members to work together to strengthen structures and reconnect with Kenyans at the grassroots level.
With Oburu Odinga at the helm, ODM is poised for stability and growth as it prepares for the 2027 general elections. Ruth Odinga’s message reflects optimism and determination, highlighting a renewed sense of purpose within the party and among its supporters.
