Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga has fulfilled a key promise to a community group in Kibra after donating a full public address (PA) system to the Kamukunji Peer Pressure self-help group. The handover took place on Sunday evening at Kamukunji Grounds in Nairobi County, where she was accompanied by area MP Mwalimu Orero.
In her remarks, Ruth Odinga said the donation was aimed at boosting the group’s capacity to organise events, hold meetings, and strengthen community outreach. She noted that the PA system would play a vital role in empowering grassroots initiatives and enhancing mobilisation efforts within Kibra.
“This evening, I visited the Kamukunji Grounds to fulfil a promise I made to the Kamukunji Peer Pressure self-help group by handing over a public address system,” she wrote in a post following the event.
During the visit, Ruth Odinga also held an engagement with ODM Party members, using the platform to stress the importance of unity and strict adherence to party structures. She reminded attendees that ODM has one recognised spokesperson—Secretary General Edwin Sifuna—and cautioned against individuals issuing unauthorised statements or convening meetings on behalf of the party.
“We cannot allow a situation where individuals convene meetings or issue statements on behalf of the Party without proper mandate. We must remain vigilant against those attempting to speak for the Party without authority,” she said.
Ruth Odinga emphasised that ODM’s strength lies in cohesion, discipline, and collective focus on its mission. Her message echoes recent statements by her brother, Oburu Odinga, who reaffirmed that ODM remains united and is preparing for a strong showing in the 2027 General Election.
Oburu reassured supporters that the party is not preparing to remain in opposition but is instead aiming for power, vowing that ODM would not be divided under his watch.
