President William Ruto has appointed new leaders to several key government boards. The announcements were published in the Kenya Gazette on September 12, 2025.
Prof. Francis Ndungu Kibera is now the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the National Fund for the Disabled of Kenya. He replaces Dr. Kristina Kenyatta-Pratt, sister of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who served for 23 years.
In another appointment, Ahmed Duale Ahmed was reappointed as executive Chairperson of the Board of Ewaso Ng’iro North River Basin Development Authority. He will serve another three-year term. Ahmed was first appointed in July 2022.
At the Bandari Maritime Academy, Lung’azi Chai Mangale was named Chairperson of the Board of Trustees. Mangale, an engineer, previously ran for Kwale Governor in 2022 and finished third.
Paul Mbatha will serve as non-executive Chairperson of the President’s Award Board for three years. He unsuccessfully ran for Mwala MP in 2022 on an ODM ticket.
Former Ijara MP, Ahmed Ibrahim Abass, has been appointed as non-executive Chairperson of the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council. Abass served as MP from 2013 to 2017 through ODM.
All appointees are expected to start their roles on September 12, 2025. These appointments mark President Ruto’s efforts to strengthen leadership in government boards while introducing fresh talent to key positions.
