President William Ruto on Saturday hosted a breakfast meeting at the State Lodge in Kakamega, bringing together a cross-section of grassroots leaders and regional political figures in a move aimed at strengthening ties with communities across Western Kenya.
The meeting was attended by top government and political leaders, including Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula. Also present were county officials, Members of Parliament, and influential grassroots representatives from Kakamega, Bungoma, Busia, Vihiga, and Trans Nzoia counties.
According to sources close to the presidency, the gathering was part of a broader initiative to deepen engagement with local communities and enhance the administration’s visibility in the region. It also underscored the government’s renewed efforts to consolidate its political base ahead of the next election cycle.
During the meeting, President Ruto reaffirmed his government’s commitment to advancing development projects across Western Kenya. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among leaders to accelerate infrastructure growth, improve service delivery, and create economic opportunities for the youth.
“We must work together to ensure that the development agenda reaches every corner of Western Kenya. Our focus is on unity, inclusion, and delivery,” said the president.
Speakers at the event, including Mudavadi and Wetang’ula, echoed the call for unity and urged local leaders to actively participate in national development plans. The meeting also provided a platform for grassroots leaders to share their priorities and challenges directly with the head of state.
The Kakamega breakfast meeting follows a series of engagements the president has held in the region, where he has launched several infrastructure and agricultural projects, signaling his administration’s continued commitment to Western Kenya’s development.
