President William Ruto has challenged opposition leaders to present their 2027 roadmap, questioning their commitment to the country while reaffirming ongoing development initiatives. The remarks came on 22nd November 2025 during a church service at Kisii Primary School grounds in Kisii County, hosted by the Gospel Embassy Church.
“I saw some friends complaining that citizens say that they are not intelligent. Let me ask them, now let’s say you are intelligent, why don’t you show us your intelligence?” President Ruto remarked, directly addressing critics.
The President also responded to media fact-checks of his 20th November 2025 State of the Nation address, stating that he remains unfazed. “I am delivering my projects,” he insisted, emphasizing the tangible results of his government’s development agenda. Several media houses had fact-checked the figures and projects mentioned during the national address.
Criticizing his opponents, Ruto said, “Stop aspiring to lead a country that you do not believe in.” Several opposition leaders have previously referred to Kenya as a failed state while criticizing his administration. Ruto, however, reiterated his confidence in Kenya’s potential, vowing to transform the country from a developing nation into a first-world country.
During his Kisii visit, President Ruto confirmed continued investment in local development projects. A key highlight was the planned Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) extension from Naivasha to Malaba, which is set to pass through Kisii County. The project is scheduled to commence in January 2026, promising enhanced transport connectivity and economic growth in the region.
Ruto’s address in Kisii reflects his broader national agenda of development and economic transformation, positioning ongoing infrastructure projects as central to his governance, while challenging political rivals to articulate their vision for Kenya’s future.
