Residents of Elburgon Town in Molo, Nakuru County, have expressed their excitement after President William Ruto announced plans to upgrade the agricultural town into a modern city. The announcement came as the President launched the Boma Yangu Michinda Social Housing Project, a transformative initiative aimed at providing 2,680 affordable housing units to more than 9,300 Kenyans.
The project, part of the government’s Affordable Housing Programme (AHP), seeks to offer decent and affordable homes while stimulating economic growth in the region. During the groundbreaking ceremony, President Ruto emphasized that the government is working closely with county administrations to ensure more Kenyans access dignified living spaces.
“We are working with County Governments to ensure we give an opportunity to every Kenyan to own a dignified living space as they work and trade,” Ruto said. “We are keen to deliver our promise and are currently implementing the Affordable Housing Programme in 111 constituencies across the country.”
Residents hailed the project as a game changer, saying it would not only improve housing standards but also create jobs and attract investors. Local traders noted that the town’s expansion into a city would spur economic activity, enhance infrastructure, and improve access to essential services.
The Boma Yangu Michinda Project is expected to include modern amenities such as access roads, water supply, electricity, and green spaces—elements that will redefine Elburgon’s urban landscape.
As Nakuru County continues to benefit from national government projects, the Elburgon initiative signals a major step toward balanced regional development. Many residents believe the transformation will elevate the town’s profile, turning it into a thriving urban hub within the Rift Valley region.
