President William Ruto has strongly defended his leadership credentials, asserting that he possesses the experience, education, and vision necessary to transform Kenya. Speaking at State House Nairobi during a meeting with leaders from Tharaka-Nithi County, Ruto dismissed ongoing criticism of his administration and reaffirmed his commitment to delivering on key national priorities.
“I have enough experience. I have been an MP for 15 years and Deputy President for 10 years isn’t that experience enough?” he said, confidently addressing his audience.
Ruto drew parallels between his leadership style and the strengths of Kenya’s past presidents. He claimed to possess the courage of Jomo Kenyatta, the understanding of Daniel Moi, the education of Mwai Kibaki, and the development blueprint he once shared with Uhuru Kenyatta.
He also pointed to his humble beginnings and relatively youthful age as qualities that allow him to connect deeply with the challenges faced by ordinary Kenyans. “I was born in the village, so I know the problems Kenyans are going through,” he remarked. “Why would I fail to deliver? I do not have an excuse, so I have to do the difficult job.”
Ruto appeared unfazed by public criticism of his policies and leadership style, insisting that bold and timely decisions are essential for Kenya’s progress. “That is why some people are making noise, but I do not have time for that,” he said. “Kenya has never had the opportunity to be led by a person who has experience, education, and knowledge about the country like me.”
The President highlighted achievements in his administration’s flagship programmes, including Universal Health Coverage, affordable housing, education access, and revitalising agriculture. He expressed optimism that these initiatives are beginning to positively impact the lives of ordinary citizens.
“As a country, we must choose transformation through courageous leadership,” he stated.
Ruto’s remarks come amid growing public debate over his economic policies and governance, but he remains firm that Kenya is on the right path under his stewardship.
