Kathiani Member of Parliament Robert Mbui has sensationally claimed that President William Ruto is in panic mode and has embarked on early campaigning to salvage his dwindling political image ahead of the 2027 General Elections. Speaking on Citizen TV on Tuesday, Mbui said the president’s premature tours and political pronouncements are evidence of his anxiety over mounting public dissatisfaction with his leadership.
“He has gone on the campaign trail, he’s two years before the election. I think he is in a panic mode because things are not as smooth as we thought they were,” said Mbui.
The MP argued that President Ruto’s public statements are increasingly alienating Kenyans and eroding public trust in his leadership. “Some of the comments the president is making are really irritating our people. He has to be very careful with the things he is saying in public because these are things that are annoying our people,” he added.
Mbui also came to the defense of a new coalition being spearheaded by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, describing it as a viable alternative aimed at addressing the country’s current challenges. The coalition includes notable figures such as former Cabinet Secretaries Fred Matiang’i, Mithika Linturi, and Justin Muturi, as well as seasoned politicians Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa, and Mukhisa Kituyi.
“We are offering a solution to the problems Kenyans have been having. The president does not respect the constitution of Kenya, and many of our solutions are in the constitution,” Mbui said, emphasizing the need for constitutionalism as a remedy to governance and economic challenges, including the high cost of running government.
The movement’s momentum was evident during a recent high-level meeting at Gachagua’s Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County, stirring speculation about a formidable political force preparing to challenge Ruto in 2027.
As the political landscape heats up, Gachagua is expected to unveil a new political party on May 7, setting the stage for an intense realignment ahead of the next polls.
