President William Ruto on Thursday, July 31, 2025, hosted officials from the Anglican Diocese of Nairobi at State House, continuing his administration’s close engagement with religious institutions. The delegation was led by Bishop Jonathan Kabiru, the third bishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Diocese of Nairobi.
During the meeting, President Ruto underscored the government’s commitment to partnering with religious leaders to reinforce Kenya’s moral and social foundations. “We are working closely with religious leaders to strengthen our moral and social fabric, delivery of universal health coverage, and quality education for all,” the President stated in a message shared on X (formerly Twitter).
He emphasized that the transformation of the nation requires a holistic approach involving all sectors of society, including the Church. “Every sector, including religious institutions, has a vital role to play in addressing the challenges in our country,” he said.
The President’s meeting with the Anglican officials comes just two weeks after a similar engagement with the Federation of Evangelical and Indigenous Christian Churches of Kenya (FEICCK), where he met bishops, pastors, and evangelists at State House.
In that earlier meeting, Ruto cautioned religious leaders against inciting the youth amid rising public discontent. Instead, he called for collaborative efforts to address pressing national issues such as unemployment. “Leaders must resist the urge to incite the youth. Instead, we must work together to find lasting solutions to the challenge of unemployment,” he advised.
Since assuming office, President Ruto has consistently acknowledged the pivotal role of the church in promoting unity, peace, and moral uprightness. His administration has maintained an open-door policy toward faith-based organizations, highlighting their relevance in tackling societal issues such as healthcare access, education, and youth empowerment.
Thursday’s meeting further illustrates the President’s strategy to harness the influence of the Church in fostering community cohesion and driving the country’s development agenda. Bishop Kabiru and his delegation reaffirmed their readiness to support national efforts that uplift communities and nurture responsible citizenship.
