President William Ruto has firmly stated that no amount of threats, insults, or propaganda will distract him from delivering on his transformation agenda. Speaking at the 10th Meru Cooperative Union Dairy Annual Farmers Field Day in Meru County, Ruto reaffirmed his commitment to improving the lives of Kenyans through focused development efforts.
Accompanied by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, the President dismissed his critics, saying they lack any meaningful alternative plans for the country. “If you ask them what their plan is for Kenya, they’ll only say ‘Ruto Must Go’. They have no agenda, no solutions only empty rhetoric,” Ruto said.
He emphasized that he would not be sidetracked by propaganda, asserting that real accountability would come at the ballot in 2027.
Highlighting key agricultural reforms, Ruto announced that the government has procured 230 milk coolers to be distributed countrywide to improve milk quality and boost farmers’ earnings. Of these, 15 coolers will go to Meru County. “These milk coolers will help extend milk shelf life, reduce bacterial contamination, and ensure farmers get better prices,” he explained.
The President also unveiled a significant subsidy for dairy farmers. Beginning July 1, 2025, the price of sexed semen will be reduced from KSh4,000 to KSh1,000, aiming to enhance breeding practices and productivity.
He noted that the construction of a new animal feed factory for the Meru Dairy processor is complete, with equipment installation set for completion by year-end. The government has committed an additional KSh100 million to the project, following a similar grant issued last year.
Ruto added that the State Department of Livestock is vaccinating animals against diseases and directed the vaccination drive to commence in Meru.
Citing data on improved earnings, the President revealed that the annual value of milk production has risen from KSh40 billion in 2022 to KSh59 billion in 2023. The price per litre has increased from KSh35 to KSh53, reflecting significant sector growth.
“Our agenda is delivering results,” Ruto concluded, pledging continued support for the agricultural sector as a key pillar of national development.
