President William Ruto has boldly declared his readiness to face the opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election, saying he will deal with his political rivals “asubuhi na mapema” (early in the morning). The Head of State dismissed the growing momentum of anti-government rallies, insisting the opposition has no development agenda besides the slogan “Ruto must go.”
Speaking during the 10th Annual Dairy Farmers Field Day at the Meru ASK Showground on Saturday, Ruto said no amount of intimidation or propaganda would derail his administration’s commitment to development. He dismissed his critics as lacking a concrete plan for the country.
“I have been in politics for a long time. No one can threaten me. Let them find someone else to intimidate,” Ruto stated, referring to recent calls for his resignation.
He took a swipe at opposition leaders, accusing them of prioritizing political slogans over meaningful policies. “Porojo, propaganda tu… ooh Kasongo, sijui Ruto must go. These people do not have a plan for Kenyans,” he remarked.
President Ruto reaffirmed that his focus remains firmly on service delivery, not early campaigns. He emphasized that those intent on politicking ahead of 2027 are free to do so but must wait for the ballot.
“This government is going to continue developing the country. For those who want to campaign, go ahead. We shall meet them in 2027. How many strategists do they think they are?” he posed.
He also praised Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki for staying focused on his duties, contrasting him with unnamed leaders from past regimes whom he suggested were more interested in talk than action.
Calling for national unity, Ruto urged Kenyans to support his administration’s development agenda. “Tunajua umpja ni nguvu, kujitega ni udhaifu… I will unite Kenyans so we can move forward together,” he said.
The President’s remarks come amid rising political tension and public discontent, with the opposition staging frequent protests and calling for electoral reforms. Still, Ruto remains adamant that his administration is based on performance and inclusivity, and he is ready for a political showdown in 2027.
