President William Ruto has expressed deep admiration for his Deputy President, Professor Kithure Kindiki, describing him as a committed and visionary leader dedicated to advancing the Kenya Kwanza government’s development agenda.
Speaking during a public address in Meru County on Monday, President Ruto lauded Kindiki’s strong work ethic, leadership acumen, and understanding of key government initiatives. He credited the people of Mt. Kenya East for providing a reliable deputy who brings both professionalism and integrity to the presidency.
“Nawashukuru sana watu wa sehemu hii kwa kunipatia huyu muungwana anaitwa Professor Kithure Kindiki,” Ruto said in Kiswahili, expressing gratitude to the region. “Let me tell you, I now have a Deputy. He understands issues related to roads, knows about electricity, and is aware of the government’s SHA plan. He is an honest man.”
Ruto’s remarks came amid speculation over his relationship with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. While not naming Gachagua directly, Ruto drew a clear contrast by emphasizing Kindiki’s deep understanding of government operations and his role in uniting rather than dividing the country.
“Deputy President Kithure Kindiki is helping me to push the development agenda forward. You see him in various places doing this,” Ruto added. “I am very proud to have a deputy who understands the government and what we are doing in agriculture, infrastructure, education, and health.”
The president also praised Kindiki’s temperament and national outlook, saying he represents all Kenyans, not just his home region.
“Kindiki is not a person of bitterness, anger, hatred, or tribalism. He understands that the Deputy President is not just for Meru but for the Republic of Kenya,” Ruto noted.
This public endorsement of Kindiki comes at a time when the government faces pressure from citizens demanding transparency and efficient service delivery. By aligning himself with a deputy he sees as composed, knowledgeable, and committed, Ruto aims to signal stability and progress within his administration.
