President William Ruto has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to two of his close political allies, Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi and Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wah, following the loss of their loved ones.
On Friday, September 5, 2025, the Head of State mourned the passing of Governor Wamatangi’s sister, Winnie Penninah Nyambura, describing the moment as deeply painful for the governor’s family and the people of Kiambu.
“May the Lord grant Governor Kimani Wamatangi strength to bear with the loss of his dear sister, Winnie Nyambura. The family, friends, and the people of Kiambu are in our thoughts and prayers at this painful time. Rest in peace, Winnie,” Ruto said in a statement shared on his official X account.
Governor Wamatangi also paid tribute to his late sister in an emotional post on Facebook. He expressed the family’s acceptance of the difficult reality, acknowledging the comfort of faith during grief.
“Death is cruel. It takes from us the people we love and cherish, leaving a hurting void. But we have to accept the will of God because it’s in Him we take comfort during such times,” he wrote.
He further cherished the moments shared with his sister, stating: “Rest in eternal peace, my sister, Winnie Penninah Nyambura. As a family, we cherish the times God allowed us to be together. Go well, Nyambura.”
In a separate condolence message, President Ruto also mourned the death of Mzee Isaac Ngugi, the father of National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah. He praised Ngugi as a visionary businessman and one of the pioneers of Kikuyu Town’s growth.
“Our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends for the passing of Mzee Isaac Ngugi. He was an industrious and astute businessman and one of the brains that founded Kikuyu Town,” Ruto stated.
He added that Ngugi’s transformative initiatives supported the vulnerable, leaving behind a lasting legacy.
Both leaders’ families are now receiving messages of sympathy from Kenyans across the political divide, underscoring the collective grief over their losses.
