President William Ruto is today set to continue his development tour of the Ukambani region with a full-day itinerary across Kitui County, where he will launch, inspect, and commission major infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity and economic opportunities.
According to the official schedule, the Head of State will visit five constituencies Mwingi North, Mwingi West, Kitui South, Kitui East, and Kitui Central as part of the government’s plan to accelerate rural development and foster inclusive growth.
Ruto’s day will begin in Mwingi North, where he is expected to inspect the Kamuw’ongo–Kandwia Road, a vital link facilitating trade and mobility in the northern region. He will then proceed to Mwingi West to inspect works on the Kwasiku–Migwani–Mbondoni Road before heading to Kitui South for the official launch of the Ikutha–Mutha Road, a project designed to unlock the area’s agricultural and mining potential.
In Kitui East, the President will launch the Chuluni–Nzombe–Mwitika Road, a key transport corridor enhancing access to schools, markets, and health facilities. Later in Kitui Central, Ruto will commission the newly completed Ithookwe Stadium and the refurbished Kitui Airstrip, both expected to bolster sports, tourism, and investment in the county.
Ruto’s visit to Kitui, the home turf of opposition leader Kalonzo Musyoka, carries political significance. During his engagements in Makueni County on Wednesday, Ruto vowed to ensure the Kamba region is fully integrated into his government ahead of the next general election.
“Kwa vyovyote, mbele na nyuma, kulia na kushoto, juu na chini, hii Ukambani haiwezi kukaa upinzani tena,” he declared, emphasizing his commitment to ending the region’s isolation from national development.
The Kitui tour marks the second day of Ruto’s Eastern region visit, highlighting his administration’s focus on infrastructure, housing, and youth empowerment under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
