President William Ruto has asked Kenyans to ignore his critics and support his government’s development agenda.
Speaking in Mombasa during the launch of the Commuter Rail Service, Ruto urged citizens to remain united and focused on growth.
Ruto Defends His Agenda
The President said his government is making progress in key areas. These include food security, roads, healthcare, and affordable housing.
He pointed to increased agricultural productivity and a Sh300 billion investment in road construction as proof.
“Our transformation in food and security is happening. We are growing more food, we have more maize, sugar, coffee, tea… and we are elevating healthcare and building affordable houses,” Ruto said.
He insisted that Kenya is on track to achieve success that will silence its critics.
Growing Rift With Gachagua
Ruto’s call comes as political tensions rise with his former ally, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Gachagua has become one of the loudest voices against the administration. He claims the government has abandoned its bottom-up economic model, which was a key campaign promise.
“This government promised a bottom-up economy, but what we are seeing is the bottom being crushed,” Gachagua told supporters at a recent rally.
He accused the leadership of focusing on elite interests while ordinary Kenyans struggle with high taxes and rising living costs.
A Political Showdown Looms
Gachagua has hinted at forming a new political movement. He says it will “return the country to the people” and push for accountability.
The fallout between the two leaders signals a brewing political storm. As Ruto pushes his development vision, Gachagua is rallying those who feel left behind.
Kenyans now watch closely to see which path will define the country’s future unity around Ruto’s agenda or resistance driven by Gachagua’s new call.
