President William Ruto has reiterated his commitment to transforming Kenya, declaring that he will only partner with bold and visionary leaders who prioritize national unity and progress over political convenience.
Speaking during the handover of the Mukuru affordable housing project on Tuesday, Ruto emphasized that the country’s transformation journey will not be derailed. “Nothing, by the grace of God, is going to stop us from achieving the transformation of Kenya,” he said.
Ruto made it clear that his administration will work with courageous leaders who align with his vision for a better Kenya, not “mere politicians” driven by tribalism or short-term political gains. “We don’t share ambition with the tribalists, the haters, or people who believe in the disunity of our nation,” he stated.
The President also praised opposition leader Raila Odinga for his willingness to work with the government in promoting unity, despite their political rivalry during the 2022 elections. He described this cooperation as essential in building a broad-based and inclusive government.
Ruto underscored that his Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda is not just a slogan, but a deliberate plan to uplift the lives of millions of Kenyans. He acknowledged the difficulty of the reforms his government has undertaken but maintained they are necessary. “We knew it was not going to be easy, but we have made the choices and the results are there for everyone to see,” he noted.
Highlighting the success of initiatives such as affordable housing, the President said these projects are part of the wider strategy to provide dignity, employment, and hope to ordinary Kenyans.
In a passionate appeal, Ruto urged citizens and leaders alike to believe in Kenya and support transformative decisions. “If we don’t believe in our country, we will let it down,” he said.
The President’s remarks come amid heightened political tensions and a struggling economy, but he remains resolute in his vision of building a united and prosperous Kenya.
