Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has dismissed calls by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for President William Ruto to serve only one term, declaring that Ruto will secure a second term in 2027 with an overwhelming victory. Sudi criticized Gachagua’s stance as unrealistic, insisting that the Kenya Kwanza administration is focused on delivering development and strengthening Ruto’s support base ahead of the next election.
“Gachagua’s one-term call against Ruto is unworkable because the President will win a second term come what may,” Sudi asserted. He accused Gachagua of being obsessed with the one-term narrative instead of supporting the government’s development agenda. According to Sudi, Kenya Kwanza leaders are actively engaging with citizens to ensure Ruto’s re-election, dismissing claims of electoral malpractice.
“When I said votes will not be enough and we will ‘fill up with more,’ I meant mobilizing more voters not rigging,” Sudi clarified, emphasizing that Ruto’s victory will be legitimate and decisive. He warned Gachagua and his allies to brace for defeat, predicting that the outcome would leave them in shock. “Many of them will be admitted to the hospital in disbelief when Ruto wins,” he quipped.
Sudi further accused Gachagua of promoting divisive tribal politics, claiming such tactics disqualify him from national leadership. “Every day, he wakes up dreaming about Ruto instead of focusing on constructive issues,” he said, alleging that Gachagua opposes empowerment programs meant to uplift ordinary Kenyans.
The Kapseret MP also defended his recent empowerment initiatives, where he distributed equipment and cash worth millions to small-scale traders, including mama mboga and other hustlers. He pledged to continue mobilizing resources to improve livelihoods in his constituency, stating, “My goal is to ensure everyone has money in their pockets.”
As political tensions rise ahead of 2027, Sudi’s remarks underscore the deepening rift within Kenya Kwanza, with Ruto’s allies dismissing dissent and projecting confidence in his re-election. The debate over Ruto’s tenure is expected to intensify as rival factions position themselves for the next general election.
