Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has declared unwavering support for President William Ruto, predicting a decisive victory for the Head of State in the 2027 general election. Speaking during a funeral in Kapcherop, Elgeyo Marakwet County, Sudi dismissed calls for Ruto’s resignation, emphasizing that the President is firmly on course to serve a full two terms.
“Those shouting ‘Ruto Must Go’ should wait for the elections. We will win early in the morning. No president in Kenya has ever served just one term,” Sudi stated, adding that critics should prepare to challenge the President at the ballot rather than in the streets.
Drawing from his own political experience, Sudi likened the criticism Ruto faces today to the doubts that surrounded his own entry into politics. “Even when I was first elected, they said I’d serve only one term but now I’m on my third,” he said, expressing full confidence in Ruto’s re-election prospects.
Addressing the rising political activism among Kenya’s youth, especially Generation Z, Sudi urged them to translate their concerns into votes by registering. “Gen Z should register to vote first before shouting ‘One Term’. Let’s focus on work now; politics will come next year,” he advised.
Sudi also revealed that Parliament is working on legislation to regulate public protests. The proposed law aims to create designated zones for demonstrations, limiting disruptions and ensuring national security. He cautioned that protests targeting sensitive areas such as government offices or security installations would not be tolerated.
“Anyone who wants to demonstrate will have to do so in a designated area. That’s the law we are preparing. If you go beyond it, you will face the consequences,” Sudi warned.
As a staunch ally of President Ruto, Sudi emphasized that the Kenya Kwanza administration remains committed to order, stability, and development. He called on the opposition and the public to express their dissent through peaceful and legal avenues, rather than disruptive street protests.
The comments come amid heightened political tensions and youth-led demonstrations across Kenya, signaling a growing generational demand for government accountability.
