Police in Embu have arrested a suspect linked to a break-in and theft at the Fidenza School of Nursing in Kyeni, Embu East Sub-County, that occurred on the night of July 14, 2025. The suspect is currently being held at Runyenjes Police Station, pending arraignment in court.
According to a statement from the National Police Service (NPS), unknown individuals unlawfully accessed the school compound and vandalized the students’ canteen. Among the items stolen were assorted shop goods and an electric water pump. Prompt action from police officers at Runyenjes Police Station, working closely with members of the public, led to swift investigations and eventual arrest of a key suspect.
Acting on credible intelligence, police traced the suspect and apprehended him with the help of the local community. Upon arrest, the suspect cooperated with officers and led them to his residence, where all the stolen items were recovered.
The NPS lauded the quick response by officers and the critical support provided by the public, which played a key role in the resolution of the case. “The National Police Service remains committed to delivering professional, responsive, and efficient policing services. We thank the community for their invaluable support in ensuring justice is served,” read the statement issued on Monday, July 15.
The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue, with police working to determine whether any accomplices were involved in the incident.
This development comes just days after a similar police operation in Nairobi’s Mathare area, where officers arrested a suspect in connection with the theft of electronic devices. Officers from Utalii Police Station raided a residence that also served as an electronics repair shop, recovering several stolen items following tips from the public.
The NPS has reiterated its dedication to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens and has pledged to continue operations to apprehend individuals engaged in criminal activities across the country.
The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with law enforcement in reporting suspicious activities.
