The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has taken a significant step in preparing for the upcoming Mbeere North by-election by hosting a strategic retreat with nine aspirants seeking the party’s ticket. The two-day event, held in Naivasha, aimed to foster unity, transparency, and dialogue among the aspirants as the party solidifies its support base in the region.
Chaired by UDA party chairperson Cecily Mbarire, the retreat focused on instilling core party values such as integrity, inclusivity, and fairness. Mbarire assured the aspirants of a free, fair, and credible nomination process, emphasizing the party’s commitment to internal democracy and servant leadership.
The Mbeere North parliamentary seat fell vacant following the appointment of the former MP Geoffrey Ruku as Cabinet Secretary for Public Service. During the retreat, party leaders and aspirants alike expressed appreciation for Ruku’s elevation, calling it a testament to the region’s growing role in national leadership and inclusive governance.
“This important gathering provided an opportunity to reflect on the needs of the people of Mbeere North and to engage in open, constructive dialogue on key development priorities in the region,” read part of the party’s official statement released on July 27, 2025.
The retreat also served as a platform for reviewing ongoing and future development initiatives in Mbeere North. Aspirants discussed constituency-level challenges and proposed solutions aimed at transforming the livelihoods of residents. Discussions included issues related to infrastructure, education, health services, and economic empowerment.
In reaffirming its dedication to democratic principles, UDA encouraged all aspirants to approach the upcoming nomination and campaigns with dignity and a commitment to community growth. The party emphasized that true leadership must focus on service to the people and collective progress.
“UDA stands strong in the belief that leadership is about service, and that collective vision delivers lasting change,” the party concluded.
As the nomination process draws near, the Mbeere North by-election promises to be a competitive yet collaborative race within UDA, setting the tone for the party’s broader political strategy in the region and beyond.
