Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has called for a Special National Delegates Conference (NDC) of the Jubilee Party, scheduled to take place later this month in Nairobi. In a formal notice dated August 5, 2025, Uhuru issued a 21-day notice to party members, in compliance with Articles 8.1 and 10.1 of the party’s constitution.
The conference is set to be held at the Jockey Club in Nairobi and is expected to serve as a key platform to reinvigorate the party’s presence and strategic direction following months of internal wrangles and legal disputes over leadership.
According to the notice, the agenda includes receiving a status report from the National Executive Committee (NEC), reviewing and formulating party policies, and addressing other significant matters affecting the party’s operations.
This announcement came just hours after Uhuru chaired a crucial NEC meeting—the first since the party resolved a string of legal challenges that had clouded its leadership structure. Although Uhuru did not attend physically, he participated virtually, signaling his unwavering commitment to the party he once led to power.
In a statement released after the NEC meeting, the party leadership said the discussions focused on evaluating Jubilee’s current affairs, reviewing progress on ongoing programs, and laying out a roadmap for revitalizing party structures across Kenya.
Deputy Secretary General Pauline Njoroge described the NEC session as a pivotal moment for the party, terming it a “turning point” in the party’s efforts to reassert its influence.
“This was a crucial meeting that marks a significant step in reaffirming the Jubilee Party’s ideals, strategic direction, and internal unity,” Njoroge stated.
She also reiterated the party’s commitment to its role in the opposition, vowing to continue defending the rights and interests of Kenyans amid the evolving political environment.
The upcoming NDC is anticipated to be a defining moment for Jubilee as it charts its path forward, potentially reshaping its role in Kenya’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
