Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has reaffirmed his leadership in the Jubilee Party by convening a Special National Delegates Conference (NDC) scheduled for September 26, 2025, at the Jockey Club, Ngong Racecourse in Nairobi.
The announcement was made through a press statement dated September 3, 2025, personally signed by Uhuru, signaling his firm grip on the party despite past wrangles. The NDC is set to begin at 8 AM under the party’s slogan, Mbele Pamoja (Forward Together).
Key Agenda
According to the notice, delegates will:
- Receive a status report from the National Executive Committee.
- Review, formulate, and approve the party’s constitution, organs, policies, and programmes.
- Address any other matters arising to guide Jubilee’s reorganisation ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Party leadership has urged delegates from across the country to prepare for the crucial session, which is expected to shape Jubilee’s next phase in national politics.
Uhuru Kenyatta Reasserts Authority
The move comes after years of internal turmoil. In early 2023, Jubilee nearly split following a leadership tussle involving MPs Kanini Kega and Sabina Chege, who sought to take over the party’s reins.
Thursday’s communication, however, appears to settle lingering doubts, cementing Uhuru’s authority as the undisputed leader of Jubilee. The party’s headquarters confirmed that the September 26 NDC is the only official convention.
Political Significance
With Kenya’s 2027 elections looming, the NDC will provide a platform for Jubilee to redefine its identity and strategies. The conference is expected to chart a fresh course for the party, strengthen its structures, and position it as a formidable force in national politics.
