Wajir town has been gripped by anxiety and distress following the mysterious disappearance of Hussein Abdirahman Mohamed, the Huduma Centre manager, who has now been missing for five days.
According to family members, Hussein left for work on Monday morning but never returned home. Since then, his phone has remained off, and there has been no communication or sign of his whereabouts. The situation has left his family living in fear and silence as they await any news about their loved one.
During an emotional press briefing on Saturday, Sheikh Abdiwahab Osman, a close relative, described the incident as “out of character” and “deeply distressing.”
“We stand before you with heavy hearts. Hussein left for work and never returned. His phone has been off. No word. No clue. We are desperate for answers,” said Sheikh Osman.
Hussein is known in the community for his integrity, humility, and dedication to public service. As the head of the Huduma Centre in Wajir, he played a vital role in improving access to government services, earning the respect and trust of many residents.
“He is a peaceful man. A father. A husband. If he’s been kidnapped, we plead let him come back to us unharmed,” Sheikh Osman added.
Local leaders have now joined the family in calling for urgent action. Wagberi MCA Aden Abdi Bulle expressed his concern, urging security agencies to move swiftly and decisively.
“This is a government officer heading a crucial institution. His disappearance cannot be taken lightly. DCI, NIS all of them must act now,” said Bulle.
The family has already filed a report with the police, but five days later, no substantial progress has been reported.
What began as a routine day for Hussein’s family has spiraled into a nightmare, with unanswered questions and growing fears. As the search continues, the community stands in solidarity with the Mohamed family, hoping for Hussein’s safe return and demanding accountability from the relevant authorities.
