President William Ruto’s aide, Farouk Kibet, has reiterated the government’s commitment to empowering women, describing it as a cornerstone for national development. Speaking during a women empowerment event in Likoni, Mombasa County on Saturday, Farouk said uplifting women is key to building a stronger and more inclusive Kenya.
“When you empower women, you are building the country,” Farouk stated, highlighting that women’s participation in socio-economic progress is essential to the Kenya Kwanza administration’s development strategy.
The event, organised in support of Likoni MP Mishi Mboko’s women empowerment programme, drew top government leaders, including Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, and Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah. Their presence underscored the national significance of the event and the broader push for gender-inclusive growth.
Farouk praised the initiative, noting that the government is open to collaborating with leaders across the political divide if it results in tangible development for communities. “That is why we honour invites from leaders like Mishi Mboko — because we want to build a better Kenya through women and everyone else,” he said.
He emphasized that the Ruto administration is focused on unity and inclusion, pledging to continue supporting programs that uplift citizens regardless of gender or background. “We want to move forward with everyone, including you women,” Farouk added.
Turning his attention to the political climate, Farouk criticised leaders whom he accused of inciting protests under the guise of political grievances. “For those selling tribalism, your day is numbered,” he warned.
He urged such leaders to channel their efforts into constructive development instead of divisive politics. “Those who are spending their money organising protests, we want them to come to Likoni and engage in development,” he said.
“Development is not about chaos. They roam around Kenya achieving nothing,” Farouk remarked, encouraging all leaders to embrace unity and work towards a prosperous and peaceful nation.
The event concluded with renewed calls to prioritize women’s empowerment as a pathway to sustainable national growth.
