Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula has officially announced that the 2025 edition of the Annual National Prayer Breakfast will be held on May 29 at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi. This year’s gathering will be guided by the theme ‘Rise and Rebuild’, echoing a national call for unity, renewal, and collective action across Kenya’s political, economic, and social spheres.
The Prayer Breakfast, a solemn and inter-denominational event, brings together leaders from all walks of life including the executive, legislature, judiciary, civil society, and the faith community for a moment of prayer, reflection, and reaffirmation of national values. It has become a revered tradition in Kenya, often serving as a platform for bipartisan engagement and moral dialogue.
“Honourable Members, as you are aware, the Annual National Prayer Breakfast is traditionally held on the last Thursday of May. In this regard, I wish to notify the House of this year’s date and venue,” Wetang’ula stated during a parliamentary session.
President William Ruto is expected to grace the occasion as the chief guest, underlining the significance of spiritual leadership in national transformation. Wetang’ula encouraged all Members of Parliament to collect their official invitations and participate actively in the event, noting its role in fostering unity and moral direction.
A notable pre-event the Women’s Convention is scheduled for May 28 at the same venue. The convention will spotlight leadership, empowerment, and inclusion among female lawmakers. Wetang’ula urged all women MPs to attend and contribute to the important dialogue.
“The National Prayer Breakfast is more than a tradition; it is a testament to the enduring values that hold our nation together,” Wetang’ula emphasized.
Since its inception in 2002, following the election of a new President and Parliament, the event has grown into one of Kenya’s most respected annual traditions, rooted in faith and fellowship. Last year’s event, held under the theme ‘Hope’, also took place at the Safari Park Hotel.
As the nation prepares for this year’s gathering, the call to “Rise and Rebuild” serves as a timely reminder of the power of unity and shared purpose in shaping Kenya’s future.
