National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has called on residents of Chwele–Kabuchai Ward to turn out in large numbers and vote for Ford Kenya’s candidate, Vincent Maunda, in the upcoming by-election.
Speaking on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Mukhweya, Wetang’ula urged voters to see the contest not merely as a race for Maunda but as a demonstration of loyalty to Ford Kenya and its leadership.
“This by-election is not about Vincent Maunda alone; it’s about Papa wa Roma. The whole country is watching. From being an MP, a member of the Speaker’s Panel, Assistant Minister, Minister, Senate Minority Leader, to now Speaker, I urge you not to let me be embarrassed. If they chase me out there, you will be my refuge,” Wetang’ula said.
He emphasized that as part of the Kenya Kwanza coalition, affiliate parties had agreed to support Ford Kenya’s candidate in Kabuchai based on the coalition’s unity and internal strength.
“Here in Kabuchai, the MP is Ford Kenya, the MCA who passed on was Ford Kenya, the Woman Rep, Senator, and Governor are all Ford Kenya. I beseech you to vote for Ford Kenya; this party is our heritage,” he added.
Western By-Elections: Malava Showdown
Meanwhile, in Kakamega’s Malava Constituency, Democratic National Alliance (DNA) candidate Joab Burudi Manyasi has stepped down in favor of Democratic Action Party-Kenya (DAP-K) candidate Seth Panyako ahead of the November 27 by-election.
DAP-K confirmed the decision was unanimous, highlighting the need for residents to support a local candidate rather than an outsider. Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) had also stepped down for Panyako, consolidating support in his favor.
“The people of Malava Constituency and Mulembe must choose their leaders without being imposed on by foreigners. Malava Decides! It’s Seth Panyako!” the party stated.
As by-elections across Western Kenya approach, political leaders are intensifying campaigns, emphasizing party loyalty, unity, and local representation as voters prepare to decide their next leaders.
